Our most recent Go! Digital event took place at the Gusto Lounge in Southampton on the 26th of April, with more croissants available than you could shake a french stick at. Our fantastic Social Media Consultant, Sammy-Jo Wilsher, held a highly accessible and informative introductory talk about social media marketing.
Sammy-Jo discussed 'six steps to social media success': set-up, objectives, content, audience, ads, and return on investment (ROI). She made her talk as accessible as possible by discussing the basic fundamentals of social media including how to set-up accounts and how to use platforms to promote brand awareness, as well as delving into more advanced practices.
With recommendations of her favourite social media and content tools, Sammy-Jo was eager to share her knowledge and advice with the audience. Her recommendations included using royalty-free image services like Unsplash and Pixabay, Sprout Social and Hootsuite for scheduling posts, using an online tool called Canva to edit and add text to images, and importantly, downloading Grammarly to help avoid grammatical or spelling errors.
Sammy-Jo’s tips - such as monitoring trending topics in order to post relevant content that will encourage engagement, learning from competitors, running paid adverts, and adapting content to suit your audience and each different channel - offered superb insight for anyone wanting to optimise their social media presence.
If you couldn’t make it to the Go! Digital event this time but would be interested in attending one in the future, the next event will be held on the 24th of May and will be all about Pay Per Click (PPC), another key digital marketing channel.
