At Blue Frontier, charity and giving back are important parts of our ethos, and this year we are thrilled to be entering a team into the Thruxton Circuit Pedal Car Race, the first HIOWAA Pedal Car Cup, to raise money for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

We have chosen this charity for the extraordinary service they provide in saving lives and providing essential care that would not be possible without public donations. We want to help ensure that they have the funding they need to keep the Air Ambulance up and running. The cost to fuel and maintain the Air Ambulance is currently approximately £15,000 a day, so we are eager to raise as much money as possible.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance's critical care team provide aid in many emergencies, including rescuing people who have fallen ill in terrains not easily accessible by foot or car and delivering life-saving support and treatment.

Not only are we excited to be supporting such an important charity, but we are also eager to take on the challenge of pedal car racing and building our own pedal car! Race rules stipulate that this must have some element of 'home made' design, so with this thought in mind, a band of Blue Frontier volunteers gathered recently to begin the first important step - to begin building the pedal car! Under the careful supervision of Jamie D, our volunteers all contributed to drilling, hammering, sanding and welding.

The pedal car is well on the way to completion even though it doesn't yet have functioning brakes - a minor detail! As we add lights, livery and that all important blue spark of power, keep your eyes open for a design that is sure to turn a few heads when it is unveiled!

Win or lose, we are extremely happy to be taking part. If you would like to see us in action, come along to Thruxton Motorsport Centre in Andover on Sunday, August 11th at 11am.

We would really appreciate it if you could make a donation on our Just Giving page - all money raised will go straight to The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to make sure this incredible charity can keep up the amazing work they do.
