It’s the most wonderful time of the year and the festivities are in full swing at Blue Frontier! Despite COVID-19 meaning many of our team members are currently working remotely, we have still found plenty of opportunities to celebrate the Christmas season. From decorating the office to shooting some festive films, here’s a little of what we’ve been getting up to this December!
Our Southampton office stayed late after work one day to partake in some Christmas decorating. Setting the scene with mince pies, Christmas music, and a few drinks, the team turned the office into a winter wonderland, complete with a snowy tree!
While Ollie worked hard to put the tree up, the rest of the team filled the office with snowflakes and streamers - Nick even modelled the latest in bauble fashion accessories! With the tree up and baubles all in place, all that was left was to admire their hard work as the office transformed into Santa’s grotto.
After decorating the office, our Southampton team donned their hats and coats – and in Mike’s case a fabulous Christmas jumper - and took a trip down to the local Christmas market. With a German Market theme, it didn’t take the team long to find a place sit and enjoy a few glasses of mulled wine and beer!
Singing along to live music and taking in all the Christmas surroundings definitely got the whole team feeling festive, and it was a great opportunity for some of our newest members to get to know everyone.
Every year at Blue Frontier we do our very best to give back and help our local communities at Christmas. This year the team decided to set up donation boxes for food banks in each of our offices, so in Southampton, Salisbury, and Bristol we have been collecting tins of soup, packs of rice, toiletries and more.
Before Christmas, our dedicated volunteers from each office will drop the boxes to a local foodbank, so everything our team has donated can go to those who need it most over the festive period. We must give special recognition to James Roberts, who initiated our charity initiative this year.
For those of you who have followed Blue Frontier for a while, you’ll know that every year we make our very own Christmas card featuring some of our team members. In the past we’ve had tinsel filled photoshoots, parody Christmas film posters, and even a Blue Frontier pantomime! But this year we decided to go one step further…
A few members of the Blue Frontier team met in Wilton community centre one evening to shoot our 2021 Christmas card – our own recreations of some of the world’s most well-known Christmas singles. With our very own star cast including Mariah Carey (Amy Hacker), George Michael (Dan Young), Kirsty MacColl (Charlotte Abrahams) and Bing Crosby (James Fry), we shot our own versions of the album covers for ‘All I Want for Christmas’, ‘Last Christmas’, ‘Fairytale of New York’, and ‘White Christmas’.
To take our Christmas card to the next level though, our team also recorded themselves singing cover versions of the songs! Made possible by our immensely talented in-house videographers, Nick and Ash, we think this year’s Christmas card is our most ambitious one yet!
The stuff of legend in Blue Frontier’s yearly Christmas celebrations are Wiggy’s Festive Baps. These roast turkey, stuffing and bacon baps, made by our very own Amanda Wigmore, hit just the right spot at any office Christmas celebration.
On the last Friday before Christmas each office gathered for some festive fun, with Wiggy’s baps being the star of the show. We were even treated to an incredible batch of Amanda’s Celebration brownies for dessert! Fast becoming a tradition for Blue Frontier Christmases, we are all looking forward to more festive baps next year!
In an amazing act of Christmas spirit a team of Blue Frontier Christmas Elves, headed up by the ever-festive Sammy-Jo, have been hard at work since October preparing Christmas presents for all the Blue Frontier staff. With each and every person at Blue Frontier receiving a special and thoughtful gift, beautifully wrapped by the Elves, the scale of this company-wide Christmas surprise cannot be understated!
Receiving such wonderful gifts that had so much effort behind them truly was the cherry on top of a fantastic Blue Frontier Christmas! Huge thanks has to go to Sammy-Jo and her team, including Amanda, Juraj, Tracey, and Melissa, for achieving such a special festive surprise for everyone.
And that’s just about everything we’ve been up to since the start of December! It’s been a wonderful Christmas at Blue Frontier so far, and still with Christmas week itself to go and a delayed Christmas party to look forward to in 2022, there’s undoubtedly more celebrations to come!
